DexaFit Body Scan

  1. Fast for at least 4 hours before scan. If your test is in the afternoon, eat only a light meal in the morning. 

  2. Limit activity before scan (no exercise).

  3. Do NOT come in dehydrated

  4. Avoid taking any calcium supplements in the 24 hours prior to the scan.

  5. Make sure there is no metal on your clothing.

  6. You will be asked to empty your pockets and remove any significant amounts of metal (watch, belt, glasses, jewelry, etc.)

  7. No gastrointestinal contrast, barium or other contrast medium, or radionuclides within 48 hours of your appointment.

How to prepare for your DexaFit Tests

VO2 Max Fitness Test

  1. Fast for a minimum of 4 hours before your test (water is fine). If your test is in the afternoon, eat only a light meal in the morning. 

  2. Limit your activity before your visit (no exercise). No intense exercise the day prior to the test

  3. Refrain from taking any caffeine or stimulants the day of your test. If you must have caffeine, a small cup of black coffee is acceptable.

  4. Wear workout clothes and athletic shoes (the test is done on a treadmill or bike).

RMR Metabolism Test

  1. Fast for a minimum of 4 hours (water is fine) before test. If your test is in the afternoon, eat only a light meal in the morning. 

  2. Limit your activity beforehand (no exercise). No intense exercise the day prior to the test

  3. Refrain from taking any caffeine or stimulants the day of your test and avoid alcohol within 12 hours of it. If you must have caffeine, a small cup of black coffee is acceptable.

  4. Wear comfortable clothing.
